Robot chefs will soon cook food for guests at restaurants in Dubai.
In order to implement robots in its restaurants, Americana Restaurants, a master franchisee for well-known brands like KFC, Pizza Hut, Hardee's, Krispy Kreme, and TGI Friday's in the UAE and the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region, has partnered with American automation solution provider Miso Robotics.
The Flippy 2 robots from Miso Robotics will be used in the first trial project at Americana Restaurants' flagship Wimpy location in The Dubai Mall. In the Mena region, there are currently 17 Wimpy stores open, and up to 50 more are anticipated.
The Flippy 2 robots system, which can independently complete the tasks of a whole fry station, will soon be expanded across additional Americana Restaurants locations. It is designed to fry almost anything and requires little labour to use. Additionally, it improves meal uniformity, cuts down on order-to-delivery times, and improves the working environment for human team members.
Customers of Wimpy will also be able to view Flippy 2 at the food court of The Dubai Mall.
According to Melvin Michael, brand director of Wimpy, Americana Restaurants continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing customers with distinctive dining experiences at their favourite iconic brands as the first quick service restaurant operator in the Mena region to introduce the use of robotics in its kitchens.
