The GoFood app launched by UAE restaurants and in the hope of taking on the dominance of food order-and-delivery aggregators.
Dubai: GoFood, the food order-and-delivery app owned by restaurants, has now gone live.
Customers can now order from more than 2,000 restaurants on the platform.
The delivery fees collected will go directly to the restaurants as well. There are no membership or signing fees and customers have the added bonus of directly supporting their favourite local restaurants by ensuring these businesses do not pay high commissions to third-party aggregators.
"Restaurants were making a loss on every order through the existing delivery apps," said Shanavas Mohammed, one of GoFood's founders. "Beyond the fees, during the global pandemic, we realized that they weren't being good partners by refusing to lower exorbitant commissions.
"A group of seasoned restaurant operators with over a 100+ years of combined industry experience have, therefore, come together to deliver a solution that supports both restaurant operators and gives the customer an ethical alternative to the current trend."
For every Dh10 spent on the platform, customers will earn Dh1 and have six months to redeem points accrued. For a limited period, customers will also receive a whopping Dh200 worth of loyalty points when they download the app.
Congratulation!
