New Filipino feast at Skye & Walker

Fans of Filipino food will no doubt have tried many of the dishes we brought to you in our tasty Filipino eats feature.

Now, we’ve got another experience for you to try.

Salu-Salo, which is the Tagalog expression for get together and enjoy, is the new Filipino feast on offer at Skye & Walker at Marriott Executive Apartments Dubai Creek.

This new island-hopping buffet takes place every Thursday from 7pm and features an array of delicacies and bold flavours from across the Philippines.

Dishes to try include lumpiang togue (Filipino beansprout spring rolls), which are made fresh at live cooking stations and served with a sweet and sour sauce.

Of course seafood also features heavily in the island nation’s cuisine, so the likes of shrimp-broccoli stir-fry and sweet and sour fish should also not be missed.

Another popular favourite on offer is beef mechado – a tangy stew served with potatoes, onions and carrots.

Vegetarians are catered for, too, with options including chop suey made with tofu and shiitake mushrooms, tortang talong – baked eggplant omelettes – and a large salad bar that both veggies and carnivores can enjoy. It features shrimp avocado salad, ensaladang talbos ng kang kong (or tomato water spinach to the uninitiated) and adobong talong (grilled eggplant salad). A Filipino-style macaroni salad and chicken potato salad also add to the options.

And if you have a sweet tooth, you won’t be disappointed, either. Desserts on offer include a leche flan, cassava cake topped with cheese and the classic halayang ube (purple yam cake).

To keep the experience feeling truly authentic, Filipino tunes play softly in the background, setting the perfect ambience for a chilled-out evening that eases you into the weekend.

Experience an authentic taste of the western Pacific islands at this Filipino feast.
