Dubai unveils Dh5.5 billion food park

 Dubai: The emirate will soon have a multi-billion dirham facility dedicated to the food industry that is expected to generate thousands of jobs.

Shaikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai has just launched a mega project, the Dh5.5 billion Food Park development in Dubai Wholesale City, a trading hub spanning an area of more than 550 million square feet.
 
The food complex is the first of its kind in the region and is designed to promote Dubai’s competitiveness as a regional leader in the food sector.
 
“[The] modern and integrated food park provides all food-related services under one umbrella,” the Dubai Media Office said on Twitter.
 
It will be a giant facility with 48 million square feet of space, serving as a one-stop hub for all services associated with the food sector, including food repackaging, storage, trading and processing. Services that will be carried out at the facility will include food inspection, financing and customs, among others.
The launch of the project was announced by Dubai Media Office on Tuesday in a series of tweets.
