Al Rawdah donates 50 tonnes of food to charity

Emirates Modern Poultry company, also known as Al Rawdah, has donated over 70 tonnes of food products since the start of the year to Dar El Ber Society - an NGO that looks after families in need across the Middle East and Africa.

Al Rawdah matched its initial donation of 10 tonnes in February with another 10 tonnes in May. In the lead up to Ramadan, the poultry brand has donated another 50 tonnes of products to the charity.

"Al Rawdah is known for being a homegrown brand that is bringing food security to the nation through high-quality products. But we also want to help make sure that families in need across the region have access to food. Each tonne of food products we donate feeds 80 families, and makes a tremendous difference. We thank Dar El Ber for their hard work in taking our products to families the most in need," said Ahmed Ali Obaid Alshehhi, Head of Public Relations Section, Al Rawdah.

Dar El Ber will be using Al Rawdah's donations to feed workers at their iftar tents in labour accommodations, and also to distribute food to orphans and single moms. The donations are expected to feed 3,700 people every day.

"Our initiative is part of our commitment of care to society in general. It also coincides with the nation's leadership declaring 2017 as the Year of Giving. Now, as the holy month of Ramadan comes up, we are redoubling our efforts to ensure families don't go hungry," Alshehhi added.

Apart from its year-long commitments to Dar El Ber, Al Rawdah is also donating its poultry products to the Satwa Mosque Charity.

Dar El Ber was set up by ministerial decree in 1979, and is one of the UAE oldest charities. The charity works under the supervision of Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities in Dubai. To date, the charity has helped over 168,000 families through 18,000 plus aid projects in 43 countries.
