Mumbai airport voted among best terminals

Mumbai: Mumbai’s Terminal 2 was voted among the best airport terminals by international air travellers in a World Airport Survey.

GVK Mumbai International Airport Pvt Limited (MIAL), the company that administers the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA), secured the top award for the Best Airport Staff Service in India and Central Asia at the World Airport Awards, organised by international air transport rating firm Skytrax, which was held on March 14 at the Passenger Terminal EXPO in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

This prestigious recognition comes after air travellers voted the airport best in the category in the largest, annual global airport customer satisfaction survey conducted by Skytrax.

This recognition comes within a week’s time of the airport being conferred the World’s Second Best Airport title in the ‘Over 40 million’ category as well as in the Asia-Pacific region, according to the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Survey 2017, conducted by the Airports Council International.

The winners of the prestigious World Airport Awards were announced after an impartial and independent customer survey was conducted — based on 13.82 million customer nominations across 112 nationalities of air travellers, and included 550 airports worldwide. The survey evaluated customer satisfaction across 39 key performance indicators for airport service and product — from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration to departure at the gate.

The World Airport Awards are regarded as the global benchmark of airport excellence, and widely known as the Passengers Choice Awards.

In addition, Mumbai airport was also voted third in the top five Most Improved Airports in 2015 and as the Best Airport in 2016 in India and Central Asia by Skytrax.

An MIAL spokesperson said, “These accolades are an acknowledgement of CSIA’s continuous efforts towards setting quality benchmarks for the airport industry across the globe.”
