In A Bid To Improve Food Safety Dubai Looks Towards Technology

 For tracking poisoning outbreaks and establishing self-monitoring systems in food outlets Dubai Municipality look to new technology to improve food safety, officials said.

 
Director general of the municipality, Hussain Nasser Lootah, spoke about innovative technologies that will be used in the near future to monitor the food industry at the launch of the 11th Dubai International Conference on Food Safety, which will take place from November 19 to 21. A total of 2,500 participants are expected to attend the conference this year.
 
“The topics that will be concentrated and discussed at the conference are about Big Data, smart solutions, Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT) and electronic sensing tools,” he said.
 
“The techniques used internationally to find innovative solutions to the challenges to food safety will also be discussed, and how regulatory authorities can use these techniques to adopt the required food safety measures.”
 
 “I urge the public not to be deceived by news spread on social media. Rumors on social media are baseless,” said Mr. Lootah.
 
Noura Al Shamsi, the chairwoman of the conference organizing committee, added: “A specialized exhibition is being organized on the sidelines of the conference where various companies working in the field of IT, electronic and smart solutions will showcase integrated solutions for food safety.
 
Food regulatory authorities, food testing laboratories, food training and consulting companies will also participate in the exhibition.”
